I can’t say enough about how amazing T.J. is! I’ve had the pleasure of being able to train with him since early December 2018.
He has listened to all of my fitness/nutrition goals. And has worked on creating a program that has worked for me. Our sessions together are always motivating, challenging, and fun!
His attitude about working towards progress and not perfection is extremely motivating. I look forward to my twice a week sessions with him at the BBA Gym. I would absolutely recommend him to everyone!
I love training with him so much my friend and I had T-shirts made of him! The time and energy he puts into each and everyone of our sessions shows how dedicated he is as a personal trainer. He truly cares about his clients.
I've been working with TJ for over a year now. He's been awesome. I started training with him at BBA Gym around Memorial Day 2019.
I've had trainers go too hard and scare me away, and I’ve had trainers be too lenient so I didn't see the results I wanted.
TJ's style is neither of those extremes and he's been a great fit for me. I added nutrition coaching to my workouts at the beginning of 2020. I was really reluctant to do it initially because I was intimidated. Counting calories sounds like torture to someone who graduated from pastry school. But TJ made it easy by tailoring and adjusting my diet plan several times over and talking me down off a few ledges. He's encouraging and really engaged. Clearly he takes pride in his clients' progress, and that is pretty awesome. As far as the workouts go, I always feel really engaged but never too fatigued. TJ will definitely listen to your specific goals and challenge you, but he won't ever push too hard.
TJ has also been flexible about continuing to work with me online during the shelter-in-place order. This has been great for me. I didn't want to fall behind with my fitness goals and he helped me make sure that didn't happen. I'm going to be 40 *real soon* and have a stronger, hotter body than when I was 22. I'm quite pleased.
Refer to my photos. I definitely would not have gone this far alone!
TJ is the real deal! I’ve been working out with him the past 16 weeks and I can tell you I am in the best shape of my life!
TJ will listen to your goals and create a program that is for you. He really cares about his clients. I cannot begin to tell you how much this dude knows. He so knowledgeable and the great thing is he wants to share that with his clients. For me, it makes a big difference in knowing why we’re doing this workout or why my macros are at this number. He gets his clients and understands their needs.
Once you start working with him, you will see results, but you gotta do the work. He can’t lift those weights for you! But he sure as hell will do everything he can so that you can be in the best possible shape you can be.
It is very rare to come across someone who has both a tremendous understanding of science-based methods, as well as a strong practical approach that can only be taken by learning an individual’s needs.
TJ goes above and beyond as a trainer/coach. He has helped me countless times with my nutritional goals, helping me build muscle and lose fat, all while allowing me to get stronger in the gym. Even more importantly, TJ has helped me become a better coach to my clients by being a great teacher and breaking down complicated topics in an easy to understand manner.
If you’re tired of spinning your wheels your with your weight loss or strength, and if you want to learn actual nutrition and strength science, you couldn’t ask for a better person than TJ.
My husband and I started training with TJ six months ago and it was the best decision we've made in our fitness journey! As a couple, we've both tried various gym memberships, boot camps, dieting challenges, and fitness plans. You name it! and while it worked for a short while, the sustainability of working out never stuck and we couldn't seem to find a program we loved.
Since working with TJ, we've been so happy and satisfied with the personal training plan he's created for us and we appreciate his philosophy on fitness and nutrition. Not only are we both excited about working out now, but we've both seen results and feel stronger than ever thanks to TJ! A personal touch that we enjoy is that at the beginning of each training session, TJ will ask us to recall a high from our week and think about what went well. I appreciate this positive approach since it keeps me motivated and doesn't make me feel bad if I didn't hit a certain target. He reminds me that progress over perfection is what matters most and it's helped me more than ever.
TJ is professional, supportive, fun and caring! All aspects you'd want in a personal trainer.
I am you. Literally you. You hated PE class, right? Same. I know that because you're on a restaurant review app looking for answers while sitting in traffic on the 101.
Pay attention to the road. But before you do, hit up TJ.
Spare yourself the Soylent, the subscription fitness apps, going paleo, etc. It's all just noise.
TJ has a dead-simple, methodic approach and will create a program tailored to your goals. He's also a bigger goof ball than me, which makes for the best conversations.
Currently, it's his fascination of my Tinder lifestyle. (Dude, I so rather be you. Trust me.)
One more thing... Ask him about Macros. He'll nerd out.
I was a client of TJ's in the Spring of 2018 as I've always had trouble gaining muscle weight, so I needed someone to help me put on about 10 pounds (without increasing my fat too much). I couldn't be happier with the results! In the 12 weeks I worked with TJ, I put on about 11 pounds (10 of which were lean muscle) and my body fat percentage decreased by 1%.
In particular, there are 3 things that TJ is wicked good at:
1) Incorporating into your lifestyle: never once, did I feel like I was "on a diet." TJ did a great job of making this program fit into my lifestyle. We mixed up exercises that didn't sit well and we modified the diet when I was uncomfortable.
2) Keeping me honest: He teaches "consistency" over "perfection." Typically, I feel terrible when I have a bad day or a bad week. In fact, I give up in the past when this happens. But TJ was super understanding of a busy schedule and made it clear that it was OK to have a life (which means missing a day "here and there"). We got back on the plan and continued seamlessly...and it turns out...it's OK. :)
3) No BS: Look, this takes work, regardless of your goal. TJ doesn't try to push a secret 10 day formula or convince you to join the "Keto" or "Paleo" diet. His makes his plans simple by bringing it back to basics: compare the calories you consume vs. the ones you expend. Within that, count your macros.
If you're looking for a coach with a secret formula, this isn't the place for you (because doesn't exist..without drugs). But, if you want to make a meaningful change in your life, and you're willing to listen and invest in yourself, then TJ is definitely THE go-to man. He understands nutrition and training better than anyone and he'll help you achieve your goal. Highly recommended!
While I was traveling to California for a short business trip, I felt quite stressful as I was also 4 weeks out from my first lifting competition. Although it'd be just about deadlift, the nerves still got me like !&!^!&!&!!
I did not want working abroad compromise my training and would love to have someone professional supervise my form and give me some insights on how I could do better. Thus I have scheduled 5 training sessions with TJ. It was undoubtedly the highlight of my trip. You won't believe how much knowledge I had brought home with me. TJ is a professional, experienced and meticulous coach. He explained the logic behind every movements to me. He corrected my not-so-perfect-form, taught me how to make weights for the meet. I cannot thank him enough for injecting confidence and more strength in me!
I have worked with TJ for the past few weeks. TJ is an Amazing Trainer! Indeed very Knowledgeable, and seasoned, caters to the needs, aches, and pains of the client which is a SUPERB quality in a professional. He is very prompt in responding to your messages and tries to be as flexible & accommodating in spite of his busy schedule. All in all, it's rare to find a dedicated Trainer who looks out for their client!
I have been working with TJ for the last 9 weeks, and this has probably been the best 9 weeks. To begin, TJ and I sat down and conversed about goals, limitations, what changes I was willing to make, and those that just would not fit into my lifestyle or family dynamics. Taking all into account, TJ was able to create a program that has been very easy to commit to, and maintain. He is very easy to talk to, listens, asks questions, is incredibly caring and supportive, and does not treat an "off day" like the end of the world.
Even before we started my program, TJ was there to answer any and all of my questions about nutrition and meal planning. Never did we think I would turn into the person who devotes a small portion of my weekends to planning and preparing fresh cooked meals as lunches for the work week, but I'm doing it. Rather than buying high sodium frozen meals, I'm cooking and portioning healthier, better tasting meals, with more variety. 9 weeks ago I said I would never do it, but I am. This change is all due to TJ's respectful coaching and support.
But what are the results? Even with taking a week of in the middle for an illness (not related to this)
Starting Blood Pressure: 169/83
Current Blood Pressure: 121/79
Starting Weight: 236lbs
Current Weight: 218.5lbs
Body Fat: - 17.5inches of body fat lost on upper body alone.
I have access to other testing devices (DEXA) which deliver more precise biometrics. Those results show, that over the 9 weeks of training:
Body Fat%: decreased 5.3% (7.9kg/17.5lbs)
Lean Mass: increased 1.0kg/2.2lbs
Total Mass: decreased 6.9kg/15.2lbs
I have to give much credit to TJ. I would not have achieved these results without his expert guidance, and I would not have persisted without his patience and caring demeanor. Everything he has provided is greatly appreciated.
TJ is amazing trainer, has a good amount of knowledge in nutrition, strength training and fun to work with. He keeps track of how much you lift and constantly pushes boundary to get more out of you.He is very attentive and great at following up, I work with TJ twice a week and look forward to my workouts. From the beginning TJ very was responsive and easy going. If you are looking for personal trainer, look no further and hire him. I highly recommend him.
TJ has been fantastic. He's very responsive to my needs for program modification due to injury and age, and he's always adding new exercises and accessory lifts to keep the program interesting.
With a personal service like fitness training, I think it's important to understand that different trainers have different specialties and interests, and each client has their own interests and goals. Personally I'm looking to build strength in classic power lifting, while staying as injury free as possible. (Anyone who's weightlifted or done other sports for multiple years knows that injuries will happen eventually, but with proper rest and rehab almost all injuries are recoverable and we can eventually be stronger than before.)
TJ works me as hard as I'm willing to work, but also understands the importance of rest and occasional cheat days. Not all trainers work for all clients, but TJ works great for me, and so far TJ meets and exceeds my expectations.
I have known TJ for more than a year, ever since my ACL Tear on my left knee. I needed a trainer, to push me through recovery and beyond.
I was skeptical at first, as I never had a personal trainer, but I had to try it out and I had nothing to compare against. I vividly remember the first session with TJ, I could barely walk, was out of breath ! But it was a good reality check on how my fitness levels degraded.
Since then, TJ has been motivating me and inspiring me to get better, so and so better that in 1.5yrs after the ACL tear, I can now box-jump 41inches! Which is something I am proud of, and could not have been done without him. I am back to running 10+miles, forgot to mention that my knee feels 99% back to normal in strength and stamina.
The decision to go to TJ as a personal trainer was the best that has happened, after my knee injury !
Thanks TJ !
I've been working out for a few years but I wanted to take it to the next level, from dialing into my diet to developing a workout that works for my goal. TJ was my answer. I've been working with TJ for the past few months and one thing I've appreciated most about him is 'striving for consistency.' As long as I was upfront with my needs, he made it work. I would highly definitely recommend TJ - his method of teaching is never the same and as I grew stronger he added new routines to push me further. You can't go wrong with TJ :)
I've always been a super skinny guy that wanted to pack on some weight and muscle, but ever since I started working out years ago I never stuck with a workout routine for more than a few weeks. I didn't know how how important it was to eat right in order to see results.
When I started with TJ, he provided me the knowledge of what I needed to do, and the accountability which I believe helped me the most. By being able to text or setup calls regularly with TJ, I was able to get in contact with him about any questions or concerns I may have had. So far after the past 5 months, I've put on a solid 20 pounds the healthy way and I feel great!
This has changed my life as I've always wanted to get bigger and stronger. With TJ's help I am finally succeeding!*
I have been training 3-5 times a week for about 7 years. 3 days of lifting and 3-4 days of distance running. I changed my diet from pizzas and beer to leaner meat, fruits and veggies. While it's not a prefect diet (I have to live a little... Cheat day once a week), it is something I can do long term. During this time, I always wanted a "six pack" but I have never gotten more than 4 of them to surface.
I contacted TJ and asked him how do I get a six pack? He assessed me (39 years old, 6ft 2inches tall, 201lbs) and said 12-13 days. I knew I wasn't going to like what I had to do but it was only a couple weeks. I did everything he said from taking Magnesium, Calcium, Fish Oil and Potassium pills every morning to eating 1,200 calories a day of 99% lean meat and green veggies. I also had to lift 3 times a week so as not to lose muscle mass. The results were amazing! I finally got to see my long hidden six pack and I looked like I was 17 years old again. I lost 10lb.'s in 12 days without running. I was as shredded!
I have never been the type to listen to someone else when training but I wanted the results. I am so glad I spoke with TJ and I think my wife is too.
Training with TJ is really fun and relaxing; I look forward to it each session. Don't get me wrong, the workouts are still ass kicking! TJ has been my trainer for a year now! He trains me three times a week; twice a week alone and once a week he trains both, my boyfriend and I together. He caters the sessions to meet our needs and preferences.
Training with him is like having a personal cheerleader, who keeps tract of my repetitions and sets, all things that I love and need. He is incredibly knowledgeable on targeting muscle groups and strategies on picking a meal plan that would be most successful depending on your habits.
I am very happy with the exercise regiment that we're on; I feel strong and healthy. I appreciate TJ and recommend him for your personal training needs if you're looking.
